FASHION WEEK

Thus far everything has been going great! Fashion's Conscience launched Syracuse University's first ever fashion week! Everyone is stoked and the feedback has been great thus far! We made the Daily Orange twice! And we have the first fashion exhibit on the quad and to top it all off we will be the first to ever host a fashion show in the lobby of the Student center. Yup! It's pretty big and I am pretty excited. I'll be sure to put up more pictures as they roll in! Gear-up!

Fashion's Conscience

As you may or may not know, since my freshmen year i have been apart of the wonderful fashion group on campus called Fashion's Conscience. The purpose of the organization is to promote and expose minorities in the fashion industry, studying underlying fashionistas that have made it big in the fashion world. It is no secret that the fashion world is primarily dominated by particular races, so we collaborate to use our resources here on campus to create a voice for those who aspire to work in the vicious fashion field, or those who take a keen interest in the fashion realm. It is a wonderful program , and i hold it very dear to me. Being a junior now and the community service chair of the organization, i have seen first hand how this program has made a difference and will continue to make strides in bettering the chance for opportunity to those other fashion barbies (and kens!).
This year we are launching a new community service program reaching out to high school lads, teaching them about fashion history, illustration, and guiding them to not only to fashion world but paving the way to make it to college and beyond. Through the program, we wish to serve as a role models and inspirations for those wanting to continue to college and convince those who weren't of the great oppurtunity higher education proposes. Syracuse has one of the highest illiteracy and poverty rates that may hinder many young ones from continuing to higher education. We will use our program to make (at least the smallest of )a difference promoting self consciousness, and focusing on literacy through the arts namely fashion! I am uber EXCITED because i am the spearhead for this project from running to meetings every Thursday to squeezing money from local sponsors i am quite enthusiastic about this! Stay tuned! I'll be sure to provide more details throughout the year about the program, our big fashion, our two fashion weeks, our fashion shoot party , and our much anticipated artist for the spring show!
