New fresh face, Magali N'diaye, (whom happens to be my cousin!) made her way from Frankfurt Germany , to Mercedes Benz Berlin to NYC fashion week. I am so proud of her and excited to see my dearest baby bloom! SH eis half Senegalese and Half German and ready to attack the new world of Fashion. FASHION NIGHT OUT

So this year, i thought to my self "There is no WAY i am missing fashion night out". The first time I read Sapphire Wiki's novel "Push" was my junior year in High school. Since then Harlem hasn't been viewed the same. Through her short novel, Sapphire was able to redefine struggle, optimism, and the dangerous equilibrium of love and hate emotions. When the movie came out, you could imagine i was front row opening weekend. What an experience, I tell ya ; chills, tear, laughter all in an hour and forty-nine minutes. Mo'Nique and lead star Gabourey Sidibe did a wonderful job, and it all paid off. CONGRATS Mo'Nique for your well deserved Golden Globe nomination.

Heiress : To be or NOT to be

So seemingly we have two different Heiresses:

1. One who works despite there economic advantage 2. One who believes "Work" is merely a word a dictionary.

Recently Heiress Casey Johnson , 30, was found dead in her LA home. She was supposedly to have planned to wed reality star Tila Tequila, but instead left her with a broken heart. Johnson like many heiress didn't really rely on work as a source of income, instead dwindled in drugs and alcohol. Reportedly she was to release a sex tape with her in her late girl friend in order to score a reality show on television. There hasn't been a clear report released stating the cause of death but it is very closely linked to prescription drug and alcohol abuse. Casey was young and didn't leave a very happen ending behind her. I send my condolences to Tila and Casey's family, and i hope that she serves as a example to not our other heiresses living in the fast lanes, but younger fortunate (economically) girls who are grant access to such resources.

I was recently watching E! television and they had a wonderful segment on Ivanka Trumph. While also born into oppurtunities, she manages to mold her figure into one that is quite aspirational to our younger generation. Balancing a company, being a beautiful socialite, an heiress and a fashion model, I must say i crown her barbie. She is around the same age range as Casey before her tragic death. Ivanka is 28 years old. Whenever interviewed, she presents a wonderful and inspiring persona that assures that money isn't the answer to everything. Despite her riches, she remains very work oriented, and quite ambitious. She continuesto build a bigger and more innovative Trumph empire and branch to other industries such as the jewelry and diamond company, Dynamic Diamond Corporation . I hope Ivanka Trumph also goes to serve as an example to all those younger economically wealthy young WOMEN. ;-)

Haiti Earthquake

Blogging is also apart of Documenting historic events. This past Tuesday, Haiti experienced an gut wrenching earthquake of 7.0 magnitude. Since Tuesday, the earthquakes aftershocks has continue to ring throughout the small nation and surrounding areas; reaching up to 6.1 magnitudes. The series of natural disasters left the ,already unstable, Haiti in ruins; resulting in further havoc and more stories of pains & sorrows. I send my condolences to all those affected by the natural disaster. I leave those affected in the hands of god as he will heal and repair this small nation.

Last night in the blistering cold, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated ,Thrillin Theta Xi chapter along with CSA(Carribean Student Association) , HASA(Haitian Student Association) , NAACP AND Voice of Hope hosted a candlelight Vigil on the quad of our campus. The turnout was glorious, the night was filled with prayers, hope, spoken word artistry. Everyone from across the campus donated candied food, money, steps filled with clothing, and most importantly LOVE! Building steps to a greater nation. It's quite sad that Haiti had to literally shake up the world to recieve some attention from this world of fortunes.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I know ... I know i am horrible! It's been way too long since i last wrote a post. This is so tragic. So much has happened in my life... Death in family, mal relations amongst family, etc. etc. But THE SHOW MUST continue. Finals are over... I am quite rejuevenated and IT'S A NEW SEMESTER. Im so excited.

So just a brief update of the Diarrha SAGA... I had a fantabulous birthday bash with my bestfriend.. we hand baked over 100 cupcakes with the help of wonderful friends. Pink and Black frosting... sprinkles and coloring spray paint..yum! It was an all black event (but ofcourse college students never adhere to themed parties--womp womp). There were sequins, feathered lashes, skin tight attire, and lots of "make you happy juice" (if you catch my jest). I'll upload some pictures from the extraganza but nonetheless me and partner in crime shoke up the campus. Has never been a party like that since i've been here and i doubt there ever will be ;-) !

SO I am now officially in a lovey dovey relationship. He's wonderful and I'm happy. Romantic spark to the new year =)

So my plans for the summer thus far is to STUDY ABROAD! I've been holding off afraid to miss anything spectacular on campus so i have decided to be safe and go during the summer time. I will be going to Paris (again) for a PARIS NOIR program, which is a condense literature and art research program that starts June 4th! I'm so excited and I've heard rav reviews!

THEN im going to Senegal to visit family. My mom claims she's shipping me off to learn how to PRAY(tradition 5 prayers a day for the Muslim practioner) AND COOK. Now isn't that something. She threaten not to come to my graduation which is NEXT year, if i don't master the two crafts. SMH.. but for now OVER AND OUT. I'm writing too much. xo. Miss you Blog !!
