yikes INTERNSHIPS!

So it's getting around that time where SMART college students look for internships for their summer past time!BRACE yourself because boy is it annoying! Every year it's the same cyclic phrase of events; emails, phone calls, video blogs, written samples, almost stalkerish. Don't give up fashionistas!
Tips that I have been suggested here at Syracuse University Institute and others in professional career fields:
- Be creative. [ Kelly Cutrone founder and owner of People's Revolution Public relations and Branding company, suggested sending a video resume. If you are applying for a creative field be creative]
- Do your research. More than likely, you'd have to result to a phone interview. Interviewers only have your answers, tone and professionality to rely on. Know what you're talking about! responses such as "Well, I like fashion and i like what they do on "The Hills" will be sure to put that RED stamp on your application!
- Be aggressive. Not annoying! I had to learn the hard way , that it is important to find the balance between assertive and passive; annoying and determined. Follow up emails, and calls are expected but simply not everyother day. Try every month until closest to summer you may want to send emails every other week.
- TIME is of the essence. Remember there are TONS of other brillant, competitive barbies out there! Don't ever think it's only you applying for the job. You may be pleasantly surprised.
- Have fun! Most of the positions you are applying for, namely in the fashion or creative fields, are laid back environments but also demand professionality, and great work ethic. Show the employer you are a versatile candidate; able to come to work with jeans and be more productive than those in a suits.

and No! i am not expert in interviews, or scoring jobs but i thought it was important to share the advice that i have been given! They never fail me! But good luck to all those attempting to leap to greater bounds! xoxo.
